Anotácia v sekundárnom jazyku práce: Since the second half of the 19th century, the hotel industry has served as a reflection of a wide range of transformational processes. These fully manifested within the economic and socio-cultural environment of Slovakia after 1918, including all its regional specificities. One of the key developmental tasks was the creation of legislation and legal regulations for operating hotel and gastronomic trades. This process unfolded within the specific economic context of Czechoslovakia and reflected the disparity between the Czech lands, the territory of Slovakia, and Subcarpathian Rus. In this regard, the hotel industry also acts as a significant filter for the boom of tourism as a modern phenomenon. This raises relevant questions regarding the technical and legislative preparedness of the country’s hotel segment. Furthermore, the issue of professional vocational education for staff is equally pertinent. In connection with tourism, the subject also touches upon a broader spectrum of socio-cultural aspects. A hotel can be viewed as a temporary home, a meeting place, a site for leisure, or a status symbol. It can be understood as one of the characteristic visual landmarks of a city or a rural landscape. Thus, it correlates with the subtheme of tourism promotion, as well as with urban history and the research of public spaces. The topic therefore creates a framework for the analytical examination of the hotel industry (or selected hotels) as an intersection of the economic, social, cultural, and urban history of Slovakia after 1918.
